    インドネシア・ティザール氏製作の最高級ワヤン・ゴレック（木偶人形：ラフワナ）
    ジャワ島を代表する伝統文化と言えば、あやつり人形劇、すなわちワヤン(Wayang)ですが、物語はインドの古代叙事詩『ラーマーヤナ』や『マハーバーラタ』に源を持ちます。ワヤンの中でも一番よく知られているものがワヤン・クリット(Wayang Kulit)と呼ばれる影絵芝居です。主に中部および東部ジャワ、それとバリで発展してきています。ワヤン・クリットは、王宮によって生かされて、そして庶民の間にも普及しました。
    一方、西ジャワでは、ワヤンは彫刻された木製の人形で演じられます。それをワヤン・ゴレック(Wayang Golek)と言います。ワヤン・クリットとは異なり、ワヤン・ゴレックの公演では、観客は人形使い（ダラン=Dalang）と人形本体、そしてオーケストラを直接観ることが出来ます。ワヤン・ゴレックが、“村の演劇”、そして“庶民の演劇”と呼ばれる所以がそこにあります。
    写真は、ワヤン・ゴレックではインドネシアで最も有名なダランで、首都ジャカルタで「Badranayaワヤン・センター」を主宰するティザール・プルバヤ氏(Tizar Purbaya・51歳)が監修・製作した木偶人形です。インドネシアで最高レベルのワヤン・ゴレックといっても過言ではありません。同氏は、1988年7月に名古屋で開催された世界人形劇フェスティバルにインドネシアを代表して参加しています。 インドネシア文化宮(GBI)では、ティザール氏並びに元ワヤン博物館館長のバンバン・グナルジョ氏、そしてジャカルタ特別市などとの共催で、将来日本でワヤン・ゴレック劇の公演を計画しています。面白くて理解しやすい内容にするため、古代ものではなく、近代をテーマとした新作『Si Pitung Jagoan Betawi（ベタウィのヒーロー、ピトゥン）』を披露する予定です。19世紀末、まだオランダ支配時代だったベタウィ（バタビア、現在のジャカルタ）に実在したヒーローの活躍を描いています。
    写真は、悪の代名詞たる『ラフワナ』です。十の顔を持って生まれ、人間と神の双方に挑む力を備えているとされます。地上にいる限り、彼を滅ぼすことはできませんが、ラマ王の妻であるシンタ妃を森へ誘拐した後、彼は猿軍団の応援を受けたラマ王にやっつけられてしまいます。サイズは、高さが約64cm、重さはおよそ850グラム。 一番下の写真は、ワヤン・ゴレックに囲まれるティザール氏です。
