    カリマンタン島ダヤク族の悪霊払い護符木彫り人形
    カリマンタン島（旧ボルネオ）に暮らすダヤク(Dayak)族は、今でこそ近代化の波に激しく洗われていますが、かつては深いジャングルに包まれ、自然界との共生を軸に日々の生活を送っていました。
    写真は、マハカム川上流部に暮らすダヤク族が、かつて悪霊払いのお守りとして玄関先に設置していた木彫です。また、病気治癒の能力も持っていると信じられ、かつてはシャーマンによる祈祷の場でも使用されました。木の“筋”を巧みに応用した、実はとてもモダンな形象です。枝の形をそのまま人体に模したり、コブの部分をお尻やお腹に見立てた発想は、自然界に神々が存在していることを信じるダヤクの精神世界を裏打ちしています。サイズは、高さがおよそ60cm、開いた両足の幅は23.5cm。重さは約1.4kg。お尻部分の最大厚みはおよそ12cm。正面から見ると、右足が内側に曲がっています。これも木の枝ぶりと筋を自然のままの姿で応用した結果です。キリスト教の到来と共に、「アニミズム禁止」が通告され、長らく土中に埋められていたものです。 インドネシア文化宮は、インドネシアの24時間ニューステレビ局『メトロTV』東京支局がプロデュースするインドネシア情報発信基地です。
