    1900年代初頭頃製のブローチです。

    当時イギリスはエドワード七世の在位期間
    (1901年～1910年) であったことから、その頃の作品は
    "エドワーディアンジュエリー" と呼ばれています。

    一般的に軽やかな色合いや作風、金属素材プラチナの
    台頭がその特徴として挙げられますが、前君主
    ヴィクトリア女王の治世は六十年にも及ぶ長期間。

    また同時代のアールヌーヴォー、後に続くアールデコ
    といった世界中を席捲するほどの芸術運動や様式の
    影響も強く、一見してエドワーディアンと認識できる
    以外にも、前時代のテイストや他スタイルの混在した
    作品も多く残されています。


    モチーフは葡萄でしょうか、果実をターコイズで表現、
    葉にはパールをあしらい輪をかたどった今作。

    珠を半分にカットしたハーフパールを金色の地金に
    埋め込むようなセッティングは、1800年代後期に
    人気を博したヴィクトリアンのハーフパールジュエリーの
    流れを汲んでいます。

    とはいえ例えばターコイズを留める爪の細やかさや、
    ブルー×ホワイトの爽やかで明るいカラーリングは
    非常にエドワーディアンらしいといえるでしょう。

    何より透かしや繊細さが際立つリースやガーランド
    （garland＝花綱）も、エドワーディアンジュエリーには
    欠かせないモチーフ。

    直径2センチほどの中に、大いなる時代の移り変わりを
    内包した興味深い作品です。

    裏側に "9CT" の刻印があります。
