    シーサーとは・・・シーサーのルーツは、エジプトのスフィンクスが起源ではないかと言われ、琉球王国の大航海時代(14～15世紀)エジプト、シルクロードを経由し、中国から琉球に伝わったものと考えられています。魔除けや守り神として沖縄全土に広まったシーサーはオスの口から幸せ(福)を取り込み、口が閉まっているメスが幸せを逃がさないと言われています。またシーサーは、魔物(マジムシ)を避けるのではなく、浄化する力があるとも言われています。沖縄の守り神は、夫婦円満の象徴でもあり贈り物にぴったりです♪
    シーサーの置き方・・・シーサーと向かい合って右にオス(口が開いている方)左にメス(口が閉じている方)を置きます。神社の入口に狛犬や阿吽の像が置かれていますが、これも一種の結界で、シーサーは、狛犬や阿吽の像と同様の働きをしてくれると言われています。南の方角へ向けると火災の防止に、北東の方角へ向けると台風から家を守る水難防止になると言われてます。魔物(マジムシ)は人の通り道を通って来ると言われており、玄関の内側か外側に置くかはどちらでも構いません。大事なのは、自分が置きたい所・気持ちよく飾れる場所が一番です。
    座と横の意味・・・座姿「腰を据えてしっかり家を守る」横姿「尻上がりに物事がうまくいく」
